The
Pulpit was known in the time of Prophet Mohamed( sw) He used it in his mosque in el Medina
, it was of a few wooden steps.
It is next to the mihrab and used by the Imam (prayer
leader) for sermons and prayer. Minbars are made from wood, stone, marble and alabaster
with outstanding decorations. |
Moving pulpits were found from El-Omawian Age in Spain and it were preserved in room in El
- Qibla`s Wall .
Amr Ebn el As Mosque in Egypt Contained a Wooden Pulpit at its establishment . The Pulpit
was found in all Egypt's mosques, yet in few of it at were Fridays Prayers were not
performed Farag Ben Barkouks Mosque ( 811 H/1409 AD ) , The pulpit ends up with a
chair for the Imam topped by a bulbar Dome .
| The Pulpit`s sides were made in the Fatmids and the Aubian Age
of Wooden units of engineer shapes that decorate its surfaces with fusion plant
decorations ( Arabesque) digger in it .Gathering these units takes place through
knocking and tongue . |

In the Mamluki age especially , the jarkasi one the plant
decoration were not much used in decorating the surface of the units , while marquetry
with shell and ivory, the Siege of the units became much smaller of which the feather is
made |
| These pulpit were also found in some buildings of Othmanic Age
. Example in Abd El Wahab Al Dahab`s mosque in el Azhar - The Marble pulpits in Egypt the
oldest of which some parts were found in el Khatiri`s mosque . It is preserved in the
Islamic Museum in Cairo ; Then a marble Pulpit was Found in Akshanker`s mosque |
